Why the petition?
My Liberal friend and I were able to agree on a way forward for asylum seekers to avoid the “fear” that has been experienced in Minneapolis, Minnesota, during the contentious ICE enforcement. Appoint Para-Lawyer Judges.
The main problem is that refugee asylum seekers have only one way to immigrate within the current system. It is the single, most rational choice available… risk crossing the border and claim asylum. The result is mass release into the interior with backlogs and court dates years away with uncertainty of success. The years of waiting has caused all asylum seekers to live in fear.
Fear is being felt, because the refugees asylum requests are in limbo. There are not enough judges to process cases. Many of the judges are quitting, with their numbers continuing to drop. Temporary judges replace them (they’re controversial). The DOJ has resorted to judges being remote or using telephone conferencing.
My friend and I also agreed that criminal illegal aliens should be deported. Criminals have poured into our country through the Southern Border causing chaos and death.
Whether the term Para-Lawyer Judges is correct or not, we need a decrease in the massive backlog of asylum cases. They must be processed accurately and timely. Temporary Judges are not an answer. Appointing Para-Lawyer Judges is a better long-term solution.
